Hello. I’m Daniel

I’m glad you’re here.

I’m an ordained Zen Teacher (Sifu) and Mindfulness Mentor.

I’m a Teacher’s Board Member at the Dharma Winds Zen Sangha; Writer at Patheos; Co-owner at The Tattooed Buddha and collaborator in some online programs. I’m based in Kansas City, Missouri.
I struggled with anxiety throughout my youth and I searched for some kind of inner peace to help me deal with my suffering. I explored a few different spiritual practices and paths until I found Silent Illumination practice and the Zen tradition.

I’ve been given teaching authority in both the Tsaotung and Yunmen Schools of Chinese Zen.

I teach Silent Illumination practice, Koan Practice, and General Buddhist Studies.

My great passion is to bring Buddhist practice to people who feel like they aren’t spiritual enough or they don’t fit in in any spiritual communities.

I believe meditation is about learning to be more genuine, seeing the world clearly, and being more fully present in our lives. My goal is to meet people where they are and give them a little guidance and encouragement.

I take a simple and humble approach to sharing meditation and other mind training practices. I share these in public events and in individual coaching.

Individual Sessions

I do individual mentoring work with dharma students all around the world. If you’re interested, send me a message and we’ll see if we can schedule something.
